Dead Alone In Singapore - Taking Care Of Lonely Deaths

Dead Alone In Singapore
In 2023, there were at least 37 cases of lonely deaths reported in the media. There will have been many more of such cases that went unreported. And it looks to be a growing phenomenon here in Singapore…
Who are these people who die alone unnoticed? Where are their family and friends and what led to their isolation? Most of all, is there anything that can be done to mitigate the situation.
This series takes a look at the issue, speaking to those who are at risk of dying alone and to those who bear witness to lonely deaths – the medical and social services helping with end-of-life arrangements, those who deal with the aftermath of a lonely death and those impacted by the tragedy of such deaths. It aims to tell the layered story of dying alone in Singapore.
