Total Defence Day 2025: Simulated power outages from "phishing attack" to be conducted in February
Singapore is getting ready for a twist to normal life. It will face simulated power outages over the next two weeks, from a mocked up scenario of a "phishing attack", where ransomware makes its way across the island through dodgy emails. It is part of Total Defence Day 2025. Part of the Exercise SG Ready will see more than 30 buildings experience "blackouts" to test responses. The goal is to get everyone to think ahead and be ready for anything. Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Psalm Lew, Director of Community Engagement Nexus at the Defence Ministry, explains the thinking behind this year's Total Defence Day and how is it different compared to previous years, seeing how it is SG60 in 2025.
