Salary and wrongful dismissal claims filed by local and foreign workers increased in 2023 for the third consecutive year. Over 9,300 people lodged employment claims with the Manpower Ministry and Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management (TADM) last year. Cases are up by some 30%, mostly from foreign employees in the construction sector. In its annual report on employment standards, MOM and TADM said they are tapping technology to make negotiations more effective. Since October to December last year, some 400 claims have been filed digitally through the online negotiation feature. Richa Mathew reports.
