Iswaran not appealing sentence, surrenders at State Courts to begin 12-month jail term

Former transport minister S Iswaran has started his 12-month jail term, after he surrendered himself at the State Courts this afternoon. The 62-year-old is Singapore's first former minister to be jailed. In a Facebook post, Iswaran said he would not be appealing the 12-month sentence handed down to him. He took full responsibility for his actions and apologised to all Singaporeans. He was convicted last week for accepting gifts as a public servant and for obstructing justice. Iswaran's sentence will be served in Changi Prison. Sabrina Ng reports.
