India votes: Modi's party and allies formally elect him to be PM for 3rd term

India's Narendra Modi has been formally elected prime minister by members of his National Democratic Alliance. The 73-year-old is due to be sworn in on Jun 9 for a historic third consecutive term. Lawmakers from Mr Modi's BJP and its allies voted unanimously for him to become the leader at the alliance's first meeting following the vote count on Jun 4. This is the first time in a decade that the BJP has needed the support of regional parties to form the government. Priyata Brajabasi reports.
