Blinken makes eighth visit to Middle East as Gaza ceasefire deal hangs in the balance
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived in Cairo on the first leg of his latest Middle East tour, as a proposed ceasefire deal for Gaza hangs in the balance. His talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi are expected to focus on reopening the Rafah border crossing, which has been closed for a month. Mr Blinken will then head to Israel for talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, before travelling to Jordan and Qatar later this week. This is his eighth trip to the region since the war broke out in October. Sarah Coates reports from Tel Aviv.
