All HDB flats to be coated with heat-reflective paint
All existing public housing flats in Singapore will be coated with heat-reflective paint to make estates more climate-resilient. Studies have found air temperature around blocks with heat-reflective paint to be up to 2°C cooler. Special additives help the paint reflect more of the sun's heat instead of absorbing it. The paint job is the latest initiative under the Green Towns Programme. It is set to cost the government an additional S$60 million. Alexandra Anand reports.
