SINGAPORE: The new Tengah bus interchange will open on Jul 21, the latest in a slew of amenities accessible to residents.Â
The interchange comes on the heels of Tengah's first supermarket and food court. The Giant supermarket and Koufu food court opened on Jun 28, providing residents with retail and dining options.
Located along Tengah Boulevard, it "has been designed with inclusivity in mind, catering to families with young children, seniors, as well as those with mobility challenges", the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Friday (Jul 5).
Barrier-free entrances, as well as a dedicated priority queue zone and seating at all boarding berths are among some of the commuter-friendly features at the interchange.
Others include the wheelchair-accessible toilets, changing room and baby care room, which are all equipped with auto-sliding doors and activated by touchless sensors.
Commuters will also be able to utilise a care room that is "catered for those who might require a quiet and calming space", said LTA.
The interchange will have staff amenities such as a canteen, dedicated toilets, cleaner's room and a lounge, as well built-in energy saving features like auto-sensor taps and motion sensor lights.

ENHANCED CONNECTIVITY FOR TENGAH RESIDENTS
Residents in Tengah will also have access to a new bus service, while two existing services will be extended.
The new bus service, 871, will link Tengah to Bukit Batok West, Bukit Gombak and Beauty World.
It will connect commuters with the North-South Line at Bukit Gombak station and the Downtown Line at Beauty World station, said LTA.
It will also provide connections to neighbourhood centres in Bukit Gombak and Bukit Batok, and Bukit Gombak Stadium.
Service 992 will be extended to ply Tengah Garden Walk, Tengah Drive and Tengah Boulevard before ending at the bus interchange, according to LTA.
The first service in Tengah has been operating since September 2023Â and connects commuters to amenities in Bukit Batok.
Service 870, which started two months later, will also be extended to the new interchange via Tengah Boulevard. It connects commuters to key amenities in Jurong East town centre.
"We seek commuters’ understanding that our bus operators may require some time to familiarise themselves with the operations of the new bus interchange," LTA added.
"Bus operators, with support from LTA, will monitor the situation closely and make necessary adjustments to ensure smooth bus journeys for commuters."
