Teresa Tang

CNA Presenter

Teresa Tang joined CNA in 2016 and hosts the weekly CNA Correspondent podcast, an original network series that takes listeners behind the scenes with CNA’s correspondents. The podcast covers everything from breaking news to up-and-coming trends. Some recent episodes include the arrest of former Philippine President Rodrigo Dutertethe political power of Elon Muskthe expat exodus from Shanghai, and an inside look at Teresa’s exclusive interview with former US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Beyond her podcast, Teresa also fills in as co-host of CNA’s flagship morning programme ‘Asia First’, tracking live events as they unfold across the region and around the world. In addition, she is one of the faces you’ll see on the afternoon ‘Asia Now’ bulletin. Previously, Teresa presented CNA’s former breakfast show ‘First Look Asia’.

During her time at CNA, Teresa has co-anchored several live news events, including the start of the Myanmar coup in 2021, and the historic summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in 2018. She also provided live coverage and in-depth interviews from the Ecosperity 2023 event in Singapore. Teresa has interviewed many notable political figures, including former US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Australian Deputy PM Richard Marles, and UN Special Rapporteur Tom Andrews. Cultural figures and celebrities she has had conversations with include musician Charlie Puth, entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk, and fashion designer Jason Wu.

Teresa brings more than 15 years of experience to her role, having worked in newsrooms in Beijing, China and Vancouver, Canada prior to Singapore. In Vancouver, she presented news both locally and nationally for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). She also filed live, daily reports for a national, primetime programme, often tracking stories from the Asia-Pacific region for Western audiences. Before that, Teresa worked in Beijing as a reporter for China Central Television (CCTV) and Blue Ocean Network. Teresa also covered the handover of power to Xi Jinping in 2012 and the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010.

Teresa earned a master’s degree in Global Politics from the London School of Economics and a First Class Honours degree from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. She also studied journalism at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in Vancouver. Teresa speaks Mandarin and the Fuzhou dialect.
