Yew Guan is a storyteller with more than two decades of experience in broadcast news and current affairs. Prior to his posting as CNA TV’s Shanghai correspondent, he was Executive Producer for documentaries, co-leading the team responsible for ground-breaking, award-winning programmes such as Inside Maximum Security, Singapore Reserves: The Untold Story, Homeless in Singapore and several seasons of Undercover Asia. 

Yew Guan has left his mark on CNA in various other ways too: Helping design the first iteration of East Asia Tonight, producing CNA’s first hour-long documentary, Living in a Bubble, and leading the graphics team that put augmented reality in CNA’s arsenal of storytelling tools and gave our bulletins their signature red-and-white look. He has also led TV news teams to roll out coverage of various elections around the world.

True to his polymath nature, despite his childhood love for the humanities, Yew Guan graduated with an engineering degree from the National University of Singapore. He also trained as a docent at the Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore. In Shanghai, he hopes to parlay his love for history and great engineering design into stories about emerging trends and innovations in China.
